Advanced Grant Development – Federal Proposal Certificate (Online - June 2024)
The Advanced Grant Development – Federal Proposal Certificate covers the scope of practice for writing federal grant proposals. This certificate is designed for individuals who wish to write a grant proposal for their organization at the federal level.
The Advanced Grant Development and Proposal Writing Certificate will increase your confidence to secure grant funding by understanding how to develop a conceptual framework for seeking grant funding that aligns with perspectives and priorities unique to each funder; further instilling confidence in your organization’s ability to facilitate a proposed project.
This course will run from Monday, June 19th to Sunday, August 6th, 2023.This is a fast-paced and intensive course! NOTE: This certificate currently has prerequisite requirements that must be satisfied prior to registration/enrollment. Please see below for more details.

Participants of this certificate are able to choose which type of Grant Proposal they write what organization they choose to write for. This means the participant must have already identified a nonprofit or a community need they want to write a proposal for BEFORE THE CLASS STARTS.
Things to consider when choosing a nonprofit to write a Grant Proposal for (this applies to those choosing to write a Grant for a community need:
• Be able to retrieve detailed information from that nonprofit, such as the nonprofit’s budget or 990 forms.
• Personal knowledge from a previous volunteer or employment situation with a nonprofit, you can generate a budget based on the needs and areas you perceived while working there.
Please note that this is an advanced course. Participants signing up for this certificate must have advanced writing skills and previous experience in writing both state and foundation grant proposals.
The following counts as acceptable experience (certificate candidates must meet at least ONE of the following criteria):
Taking a previous college-level course or professional development course focusing on writing state and foundation grant proposals.
Having prior experience with a nonprofit organization writing grant proposals for state and foundation grants is also acceptable. Registrants for the Advanced Certificate should be able to clearly demonstrate and quantify their prior experience in the latter areas.
