‘Las Marthas’ Screening with Director, Cristina Ibarra
Join us for a special screening of Las Marthas, a captivating documentary by award-winning director Cristina Ibarra. As part of the Herberger Institute Student Engagement team's monthly Movie Night in Los Angeles, this screening will take place at the ASU California Center Grand.
Las Marthas follows the journey of two young women, Laurita Garza Hovel—a prominent member of Laredo society—and Rosario Reyes—a newcomer from Mexico—as they prepare for their debut at the Society of Martha Washington’s annual debutante ball. Through their stories, the film explores themes of tradition, identity, and social expectations within this unique bicultural celebration.
Following the screening, director Cristina Ibarra will join us for an engaging Q&A session to discuss the film and its themes.
Parking is available via 9th St. between Hope St. and Grand Ave.Underground parking open on a space-available basis for $10.
