Infectious disease remains a global health challenge. Going through the COVID-19 pandemic, we have all learned the value of genomic data and how an infectious disease can affect every corner of the world. COVID-19 also highlights the importance of zoonotic diseases, where pathogens from animals can switch host to cause diseases in human. It is predicted that the frequency of zoonotic infectious diseases may be exacerbated by climate change. The key question remains to be answered: What should we expect in the next pandemic? Are we ready to respond to the next pandemic, which could possibly be another zoonotic disease?
Continuing the success of the 2023 BMI/BMD Affinity Network Spring Symposium on “Heat and Health”, this 2024 Spring Symposium is organized on the theme of “Climate Change and Infectious Diseases”. Sponsored by the College of Health Solutions, we have invited a multidisciplinary group of innovative and thoughtful scientists globally to present their work and ideas in infectious diseases, zoonoses, and climate and health.
